| Lacan
tells us on a number of occasions in the 1970s that much of
his work in psychoanalysis was inspired by his own concern
with love and relations between the sexes. This seminar will
examine the imaginary, symbolic, and real contributions to
love and to “being in love,” discussing various elaborations
on the subject by both Freud and Lacan. |

Dr. Bruce
Fink
Dr. Bruce Fink is
a practicing Lacanian psychoanalyst, analytic supervisor, and
Professor of Psychology at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania.
He is a member of the École de la Cause
Freudienne in Paris.
He obtained his M.A. in Philosophy
and his Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis at the University of Paris
VIII (Saint-Denis).
He is the author of three books on
Lacan:
.- The Lacanian Subject (1995)
.- A Clinical
Introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis (1997)
.- Lacan to
the Letter: Reading Écrits Closely (2004)
He has coedited
three collections of papers on Lacan's work:
.- Reading
Seminar XI (1995)
.- Reading Seminars I and II (1996)
.-
Reading Seminar XX (2002).
Fink is also a translator of
Lacan's work into English. His translation of Seminar XX,
Encore: On Feminine Sexuality, was published in 1998, and his
retranslation of Écrits: A Selection was published in 2002,
both by W.W. Norton & Co.
His translation of Lacan
complete Écrits will come out in 2005. |
